Bio

Brett Davis, MS
East Tennessee farm boy turned Master Sommelier, Brett Davis’ mastery of wine stems from a place of pure enjoyment.

A 7-year-old bottle of 1978 Batard Montrachet paired with a plate of French cheese. Few 19-year-olds would describe this as a transcendent experience, but Brett Davis wasn’t your average teenager.

Raised in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains, Brett developed a passion for the restaurant business at the age of 16, when he began his career in the kitchens of his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. Soon after graduating from high school, Brett was off to New Orleans to wait tables at the esteemed Commander’s Palace. In his words, Brett was “fresh off the farm,” and naïve to the significance of learning from the likes of Emeril Lagasse, Jamie Shannon, and above all, Ella Brennan and her family. It was after work one night during his time at Commander’s Palace that Brett had the aforementioned Chardonnay-inspired epiphany, setting him on a course to become a Master Sommelier.

Since his days in New Orleans, Brett has worked with fine dining establishments across the country including Michael’s in Santa Monica, California, Geronimo in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and BIN 54 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Brett is currently a Sales Manager for Vintner Select, a fine wine importer and distributor in Mason, Ohio. In this role, Brett works with restaurants and retailers throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky on their beverage programs and staff education.
