Program Schedule and Application

All Introductory Sommelier Courses and Certified Exams are filled on a first come, first served basis. The Advanced Course applications are subject to the decision of the selection committee and will be based on merit, preparedness and letters of recommendation.

Qualifications

You must be qualified to register for these courses and exams. A minimum of three years in the wine/service industry is strongly recommended for the Introductory Course.

Candidates must have passed the Introductory Course Exam to enroll for the Certified Exam.

Entrance into the Advanced Course is via a selection process of the Court of Master Sommelier's academic admissions committee. You must have passed the Introductory and Certified Exams and have a mandatory five years minimum experience in the wine/service industry.

The M.S. Diploma Exam is by invitation only after successful completion of the Advanced Course. If you have any questions, please call (707) 255-5056.

Please note the new policy regarding deadlines for upcoming Advanced Courses. From calendar 2010 on there will be separate deadlines for each of the three Advanced Courses. Students whose applications are not accepted for an earlier course are welcome to reapply for a later course in the same calendar year.

    Cancellation Policy: The Court of Master Sommeliers must receive written communication of cancellation. Notification must be emailed to klewis@mastersommeliers.org. Candidates will receive a full refund of the program fee, less a $40.00 administrative fee per registrant, if cancellation is more then 31 days before program. If cancellation is between 15 days to 30 days candidates will receive a 50% refund; less then 15 days prior to the program there is no refund or transfer of funds to another program. The Court of Master Sommeliers does not carry credit on the books from one calendar year to another.
