Membership
As per the By-laws of the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas, the Corporation shall have one class of membership, designated as individual. Eligibility for membership is granted to any individual who demonstrates dedication to the Corporation’s objectives, successfully completes the prescribed study program resulting in the award of the Master Sommelier Diploma, and acknowledges adherence to the Corporation’s Code of Ethics and Conduct, NonFraternization Policy, Release and Waiver of Liability, as well as the Alcohol Policy, subject to amendments by the Board.
Individuals eligible and qualified for membership under these Bylaws may be admitted upon approval by the Board or its duly authorized committee, contingent upon timely payment of dues and fees determined by the Board. All members possess the right to vote on matters such as the election or removal of directors, disposition of the Corporation’s assets, mergers, dissolution, and other issues presented for a membership vote.
Dues
The amount payable by members is set periodically by the Board, with flexibility to establish criteria and differentiate dues for various membership classes or categories if applicable. The current dues stand at $95, payable upon admission to membership and subsequently on an annual basis. Members, upon learning of the dues and payment schedule, may avoid liability by promptly resigning, unless contractual obligations hold them responsible for the dues.
