The Master Sommelier Diploma Examination tests the Court of Master Sommeliers standards in beverage sales and service. The exam represents a significant elevation over the Advanced Sommelier Examination in required experience, knowledge, and skill level.
Master Sommelier Application Process
- Application fee is $100.
- Please note: your application of intent does not guarantee a seat at this portion of the examination regardless of history; your participation is by invitation, which will be sent in January of 2025.
- Applications close on December 15.
Master Sommelier Diploma Examination – Theory:
- April 28, 2025 in Portland, OR
- Upon passing the Theory portion, candidates will be invited to attend the Practical and Tasting examinations later in the year.
Master Sommelier Diploma Examination – Hospitality & Service Practical and Tasting:
- September 2-4, 2025 in Houston, Texas
- For those who currently hold at least one portion of the examination
