The inaugural Women’s Sommelier Symposium, hosted by the CMS-A, in partnership with the Santa Barbara Vintners Association, marked a significant milestone in the wine industry. Held amidst the picturesque backdrop of Santa Barbara wine country, this groundbreaking event brought together top female wine professionals for networking, mentorship, and inspiration.

 

Led by six esteemed Master Sommeliers and featuring a lineup of influential speakers and moderators, the symposium addressed topics ranging from turning your side-hustle into a businesses to navigating the challenges of the industry. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with industry trailblazers, including winemakers, farmers, general managers, and restauranteurs.

 

The choice of Santa Barbara as the symposium’s location was intentional, considering its reputation as a region with a high number of women winemakers. With a focus on creating more equity and space for women sommeliers worldwide, the event aimed to foster mentorship, support, and collaboration. As participants from Hong Kong to Toronto gathered to exchange ideas and experiences, the symposium underscored the importance of empowering women in every facet of the wine industry.
