We are pleased to share that our RALIANCE training, Promoting Respectful and Safe Environments in the Beverage Industry, is now available to the larger community. This marks an important milestone for the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas, and for the future of the beverage industry.
Developed specifically for the CMS-A, this training reflects the realities of our work and supports your continued growth as both a sommelier and a leader. The CMS-A Board of Directors partnered to develop the training with RALIANCE, a global leader dedicated to ending sexual violence by helping organizations create safe, respectful environments. This customized training builds on the sommelier foundation and reinforces our shared commitment to fostering a culture of respect, professionalism, and accountability.
The Court of Master Sommeliers is recognized as the gold standard for excellence in beverage service. Since the founding of the Americas chapter in 1987, the organization has welcomed 172 Master Sommeliers, representing the highest level of achievement in wine knowledge, hospitality, service, and business acumen. As you progress in your journey, you step into a leadership role within this community and serve as an ambassador for the profession. This training will build on your beverage expertise to address the ethical dimension of advanced certification, including the standards, values, and integrity required to lead in the global wine community.
Completion of the RALIANCE training is required for participation in the Advanced and Master Sommelier programs. This initiative represents more than a requirement; it is a shared commitment across our organization. Our leadership, membership, and staff are aligned in this effort, working together to shape a culture grounded in these principles and to set a standard for the broader hospitality community. The training was first launched in 2025 for the Board of Directors, current Master Sommeliers, and CMS-A staff, and is now being expanded more broadly.
We appreciate the time and thought that our community will bring to this training. This engagement is an important part of strengthening our community and advancing the standards we all represent.
