As part of the continued commitment to educational excellence and global wine engagement, the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas recently partnered with The Federation of Greek Wine and Sofia Perpera to host an immersive study tour through Greece’s Peloponnese region. This initiative brought nine Master Sommeliers together for a dynamic exploration of Greece’s historic and emerging PDOs, with a curriculum anchored in both rigorous tasting and cultural immersion.
Over six days, participants engaged with more than 140 wines, including standout selections from Santorini, Crete, and Cephalonia. Guided by regional experts, the group explored key varietals such as Agiorgitiko, Moschofilero, and Assyrtiko while visiting renowned producers and historical landmarks.
This was the first visit by a group of Master Sommeliers for a winery tour of the Peleponnese region in over ten years, and the reception from the wineries was overwhelmingly enthusiastic. The experience fostered meaningful connections and highlighted the importance of international collaboration in wine education.
