The Court's intensive educational program guides aspiring Master Sommeliers through four increasingly rigorous levels of coursework and examination, culminating in the Master Sommelier Diploma Examination.
Vaccination Policy for In-Person Programs: Proof of full vaccination for students and instructors is required at all CMS in-person programs until further notice. Fully vaccinated is defined as 2 doses of either Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, and CoronaVac or 1 dose of either Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) or Convidecia at least 10 days prior to the program. Based on the CDC risk level in the region the exam is being held, students and instructors are recommended, but not required, to wear a mask at all in-person programming. Policy will be reviewed the first week of each month.
Intro Exam Time Elapse: Candidates whose three-year time elapse between the Intro Exam and Certified Exam was due to expire in 2020-2022, have automatically been granted an extension through December 31, 2022.
CMS-A Recusal Policy: The CMS-A wants you to feel your most comfortable come exam time. Therefore, candidates are able to request that specific Master Sommelier examiners are recused from adjudicating their efforts.
To request recusal(s), log into your account at www.mastersommeliers.org, click on My Account in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Scroll down to the My Recusal Requests section of the page and use the Add Recusal Request button. Begin typing in the Master Sommelier's first name then select their full name from the drop down list. Please submit all recusal requests no later than two weeks prior to you exam.
